Our Policies
Our policies are as follows. Our main concern is that our kittens find a safe and happy home where they are loved to pieces. I have learned a lot in buying my cats and what kind of things I would have liked in my contracts as a buyer. So you will benefit from that and I am incorporating those in my policies.
Our kittens will not leave our home as pets until they are spayed or neutered. This is to protect the girls from unwanted pregnancies and uterine infections from not being spayed soon enough. Girls that are not altered will pee on furniture when in heat and will try to sneak out the door to get what they want. An altered girl will never have these desires. For the boys this will protect your home as they will spray if not neutered early. They will also dart out the door as their hormones come in. Early altering is also a huge benefit to you. You will be getting a kitten that has had all it's shots for the year as well as having been spayed or neutered already. Prior to the spay your kitten will get a full lab workup as well as a fecal screen for parasites. They will also be dewormed and treated with revolution for fleas and mites. You can take your new baby home and just enjoy him/her without having to worry about altering contracts (where you must get your pet altered within a certain amount of months in order to receive papers). Your kitten will come with registration papers through TICA (The International Cat Association). We do not believe in altering kittens until they are 12wks or three pounds so that is when I will release my babies as pets.
I do not sell many kittens as breeders but under careful consideration and screening I will do this from time to time. As breeders my kittens may leave here at 12wks. They will be fully vaccinated up until this point and you will receive their blue slip for registration. I will not sell a breeder to a cattery that is not registered with TICA and in good standing with TIBCS. I will require references if the cattery is not known to me. I will require that the girls will be allowed to roam freely and not be caged. As I know boys do spray I will require that they have adequate space in the place they are kept. The area must be clean and roomy. The breeder cat may not be resold or rehomed as a breeder without written permission from me. I also request to have first right of refusal on any cat to be resold or rehomed. The cat may only be used for 5yrs in breeding. After this they all deserve a rest and a life as a beloved pet.
As far as refunds and returns go I have put a lot of careful thought into this. You may return your kitten for any reason at any time. You have three days to get the kitten to the vet and make sure they are healthy. In this time period if the kitten is found to be unhealthy a replacement kitten will be offered should you bring it back. You have time to keep them at home and see how they will adjust to your home and to you. In this time period you will be able to tell their personalities and if they are a good "fit" for your home. This also gives you enough time to assess if there is going to be an allergy reaction in the home. While we will always take a kitten back we cannot replace a kitten for not being a good fit or obviously not for allergies. Return shipping is to be paid by the buyer. I will just request a health certificate from the vet if not being returned for health reasons. If being returned for health reasons I will require a letter from your veterinarian stating the kittens health condition. This is only to ensure the kitten has not been harmed (yes there are people out there like this). If your kitten dies during this time period a necropsy report from your veterinarian at your expense will be required before any replacement is offered. The kittens death must be related to a health condition the kitten came to you with.
I will always take a kitten as a return for any reason at any age. Depending on the situation a replacement kitten may be offered. I will give a one year health guarantee on my kittens for congenital or genetic defects. If your kitten is found to have a congenital or genetic defect within the first year it will be replaced. Each case can be assessed individually. I am very workable and want my buyers to be happy.
I also require that your kitten not be allowed to roam freely outside. If you would like to take it out on a harness and leash that is fine. But I do not allow them to be tied up outside or allowed to roam freely. This poses great danger to cats as they are not wild animals and do not have the skills to survive in the wild. There is also a great danger of cars, people, and other animals to consider. My kittens are to be house pets only.
Declawing your kitten should only be done under careful consideration. Please be aware that in a declaw the kitten loses not only it's nail but the first part of the toe. If you have questions on this please contact me. I am more than willing to work with clients on providing ideas to prevent cats from ruining furniture and harming people. Cats require their nails to be trimmed and this is normally a very easy process that I can help you with. A cat that is declawed will become a biter. That is their only line of defense and believe me they will use it. I have a siamese I had declawed before I was educated on this. He is now a biter when he plays or gets angry. My bengals do not bite nor do they claw up us or the furniture. They are provided with plenty of scratching toys and posts and this seems to cure that need.
